Shay Salehi is an artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Her current work studies destructive patterns through the contextualization of everyday objects.
Shay explores destruction through the lens of her own experiences and reflects on the bond between internal and external patterns. She has been focused on this theme, uncovering both personal and societal cycles, through an exploration in objects and their inherent meanings within present culture. Using minimal intervention, she plays with the strength and weakness of material and object, altering the given symbols and roles in society.
Since 2017, Shay has been studying Sculpture and Installation at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCADU). Previous to OCADU, Shay studied glasswork at Sheridan College (2011-2014) and continues making sculptural glasswork.
